NC disaster responders heading to Maui to help the thousands of people affected by wildfires
Friday morning, disaster responders here in North Carolina will provide an update on their relief efforts in Maui.
A group of them will be heading to Hawaii to help. The American Red Cross of NC said they are sending six disaster responders to provide aid to locals and tourists in need.
A spokesman with the organization said the greatest need is helping those who have been displaced.
Disaster responders from the Red Cross of NC plan to provide shelter, and will be handing out food and water as they assess damage along the way. They will stay there for at least three weeks.
Those who wish to help can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund by visiting redcross.org or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Your donation enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these disasters.
